Brian O'Smellbert Industries

Welcome to Brian O’Smellbert industries.

Brian O’Smellbert industries was founded in 1978 and is the UK’s leading specialist in smell-dissemination in public spaces. We work closely with Local Authorities and Contractors to unearth the cause of bad odours and offer safe and pleasant solutions to promote wellbeing and happiness for local noses.

Our current work has brought us to Brixton, where we are in the middle of a 6 week research period to investigate the odd smells that have been reported by concerned locals.

As part of these studies, between 24th August and 28th September, BOSi will be carrying out various experiments in Brixton to obtain essential data for this project.

This research is going very well so far. Our workers were collecting pollution odour samples from Tunstall Road just last week through the building of sandcastles to absorb the odours. The sand is still being tested and we will let you know of the outcome of this work as soon as we do.

What does this mean to you?

BOSi have identified several misplaced aromas in the works and will be working in public spaces using various technologically advanced techniques to investigate further.

Odours already identified include cut grass, dragon breath, pine needles, farmyard and fart.

Pollution: Highly skilled workmen will be building sandcastles on the roadsides to collect essential data for lab-analysis. The aromasorb sand is positioned in different shapes.

Rubbish: BOSi are bringing in specially adapted Wheelie Bins which will roam the streets of Brixton encouraging the general public to dispose of their waste in a responsible manner.

Children: It has been scientifically proven that children emit most of the smell on earth when in a state of fear and BOSi will be offering a unique opportunity for the children of Brixton to be a part of their own exciting research. BOSi are asking that children be brought to Tate Gardens on Sunday 21st September to take part in a large-scale odour-catching exercise.

We spin children in a cage attached to a digger!!!

Brian O'Smellbert Industries will also be placing lights along Brixton High Street from 26th – 28th September, which act as remarkable night time sensors – each colour represents a different type of smell that is being detected.

On 28th September BOSi are inviting people to come and witness the historic burying of aroma in a hole in Tate Gardens, planting a capsule containing all aromas discovered during our research period. This will be an archive for people in the future to open (at arms length) and enjoy as a historical relic.

We invite you all to come along and enjoy the end of this very silly programme that Lambeth Council has been running in collaboration with the Bureau Of Silly ideas to celebrate the current regeneration changes that are taking place in Brixton.
